NetGraphMsgHandler implements RoutingMessageHandler to handle gossip
messages defined in BOLT 7 and maintains a view of the network by
updating NetworkGraph. Rename it to P2PGossipSync, which better
describes its purpose, and to contrast with RapidGossipSync.
As part of preparing to expose some of its methods as pub for ChannelManager-less
phantom invoice generation.
Pure code move of the module + the addition of module-level documentation
Because ln::functional_tests if over 9000 LoC long, its useful to
move tests into new modules as we can. Here we move all
cooperative shutdown related tests into a new module entitled
`shutdown_tests`
BOLT 2 enumerates the script formats that may be used for a shutdown
script. KeysInterface::get_shutdown_pubkey returns a PublicKey used to
form one of the acceptable formats (P2WPKH). Add a ShutdownScript
abstraction to encapsulate all accept formats and be backwards
compatible with P2WPKH scripts serialized as the corresponding
PublicKey.
If we forward an HTLC to our counterparty, but we force-closed the
channel before our counterparty provides us an updated commitment
transaction, we'll end up with a commitment transaction that does
not contain the HTLC which we attempted to forward. In this case,
we need to wait `ANTI_REORG_DELAY` blocks and then fail back the
HTLC as there is no way for us to learn the preimage and the
confirmed commitment transaction paid us the value of the HTLC.
However, check_spend_holder_transaction did not do this - it
instead only looked for dust HTLCs in the confirmed commitment
transaction, paying no attention to what other HTLCs may exist that
are missed.
This will eventually lead to channel force-closure as the channel
on which we received the inbound HTLC to forward will be closed in
time for the initial sender to claim the HTLC on-chain.
Package.rs aims to gather interfaces to communicate between
onchain channel transactions parser (ChannelMonitor) and outputs
claiming logic (OnchainTxHandler). These interfaces are data
structures, generated per-case by ChannelMonitor and consumed
blindly by OnchainTxHandler.
Given the chain::Watch interface is defined in terms of ChannelMonitor
and ChannelMonitorUpdateErr, move channelmonitor.rs from the ln module
to the chain module.
They all have a specific structure, so having them in the mess that
is functional_tests isn't really conducive to readability. More
importantly, functional_tests is so big it slows down compilation,
so even dropping a few hundred lines is a win.
This changes the LICENSE file and adds license headers to most files
to relicense under dual Apache-2.0 and MIT. This is helpful in that
we retain the patent grant issued under Apache-2.0-licensed work,
avoiding some sticky patent issues, while still allowing users who
are more comfortable with the simpler MIT license to use that.

Encapsulates tracking and bumping of in-flight transactions in
its own component. This component may be latter abstracted
to reuse tracking and RBF for new features (e.g dual-funding,
splicing)
Build all transactions generation in one place. Also as fees
and signatures are closely tied, what keys do you have determine
what bumping mode you can use.
Lightning messages are identified by a 2-byte type when encoded on the
wire. Rather than expecting callers to know message types when sending
messages to peers, have each message implement a trait defining the
message type. Provide an interface for reading and writing messages
as well as a Message enum for matching the decoded message, including
unknown messages.
This adds a new fn to ChannelKeys which is called when we generte
a new remote commitment transaction for signing. While it may be
theoretically possible to unwind state updates by disconnecting and
reconnecting as well as making appropriate state machine changes,
the effort required to get it correct likely outweighs the UX cost
of "preflighting" the requests to hardwre wallets.
