With this commit we bump the github.com/btcd/btcec/v2 library to v2.3.2
which implements the MuSig2 BIP version v1.0.0rc2. With this the
github.com/btcsuite/btcd/btcec/v2/schnorr/musig2 package becomes
v1.0.0rc2 and the github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/internal/musig2v040
stays at the old v0.4.0 version.
We put the calls that don't use musig2 package specific types as
parameters or return values behind an interface so we can easily call
those directly in the RPC without needing to know the underlying
implementation version. Some calls can't be used in the interface
because they use the specific package version's types. These calls are
implemented in helper functions in the input package instead that do the
necessary type switches.
As a preparation for making it possible to version switch calls to the
MuSig2 API, we move some of the calls to the input package where in a
future commit we'll call the corresponding code in the correct package.
Before this commitment, we'd end up failing in `schnorr.ParseSignature`
if a non-default sighash was used. To fix that, we'll slice the
signature to only pass in the sig w/o the sighash flag.
In this commit, we add a new field `TapTweak` to be used for key path
spends. Before this commit, we'd overload the existing `WitnessScript`
field to pass this information to the signing context. This was
confusing as for tapscript spends, this was the leaf script, which
mirrors the other script based spending types.
With this new filed, users need to set this to the script root for
keypath spends where the output key commits to a real merkle root, and
nothing when bip 86 spending is being used.
To make the signing even more explicit, we also add a new field called
sign_method with an enum type that differentiates between the different
segwit v0 and v1 signing methods.
Fixes https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/issues/6446.
This commit was previously split into the following parts to ease
review:
- 2d746f68: replace imports
- 4008f0fd: use ecdsa.Signature
- 849e33d1: remove btcec.S256()
- b8f6ebbd: use v2 library correctly
- fa80bca9: bump go modules
To simplify the message signing API even further, we refactor the
lnwallet.MessageSigner interface to use a key locator instead of the
public key to identify which key should be signed with.
In this commit, we start to optimistically use the new private key cache
that was added to btcwallet. As is, btcwallet will cache the decrypted
account keys for each scope in memory. However, the existing methods
to derive a child key from those account keys requires a write database
transaction, and will re-derive the private key using BIP-32 each time.
The newly added `DeriveFromKeyPathCache` lets us skip all this and
directly use a cache assuming the account info is already cached. The
new logic will try to use this method, but if it fails fall back to the
existing `DeriveFromKeyPath` method. All calls after this will use this
new cached key.
Fixes https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/issues/5125.
Basic benchmark before the btcwallet change and after:
```
benchmark old ns/op new ns/op delta
BenchmarkDerivePrivKey-8 22840583 125 -100.00%
benchmark old allocs new allocs delta
BenchmarkDerivePrivKey-8 89 2 -97.75%
benchmark old bytes new bytes delta
BenchmarkDerivePrivKey-8 10225 24 -99.77%
```
The cache wasn't really serving a purpose as FetchInputInfo isn't known
to be a hot path. Also, with a planned addition of returning the
confirmation status of an output within FetchInputInfo in a later
commit, caching won't be useful as we'll have to go to disk anyway to
determine the confirmation status.
In this commit, we address an edge case that can happen a user rescans
w/ their seed, while retaining their existing `channel.db`. Once they
rescan, if they go to sign for a channel sweep for example, the
commitment key family (actually an account) may not yet have been
created, causing the signing attempt to fail.
We remedy this always creating the account if we go to sign, and the
account isn't found. The change has been structured to make this the
exception, so we'll avoid always needing to do 2 DB hits (check if
account exists, sign), each time we sign.
A new test has been added to exercise this behavior. If the diff from
the `signer.go` file is removed, then the test will fail.
In this commit, we fix an existing bug that would cause us to be unable
to derive the very first key in a key family if the wallet hadn't
already derived it in the past. This can happen if a user keeps their
same `channel.db`, but restores their wallet resulting in fresh
`wallet.db` state.
This is an existing issue due to the fact that we don't properly
distinguish between an empty key locator, and the very first key in a
`KeyFamily`: `(0, 0)`. Atm, `KeyLoactor{0, 0}.IsEmpty() == True`,
causing us to be unable to retrieve this key in certain cases since we
fall through and attempt address based derivation.
In order to remedy this, we add a new special case (until we upgrade
`KeyLoactor` formats, but needed for legacy reasons) to _try_ a regular
`KeyLoactor` based derivation if we fail to derive via address, and this
is an "empty" key loc. This has been tested in the field and shown to
work, with the one downside that in this "hot swap restoration" case,
we'll hit the database twice to derive the key.
This commit is a step to split the lnwallet package. It puts the Input
interface and implementations in a separate package along with all their
dependencies from lnwallet.
In this commit, we add an additional check to btcwallet's FetchInputInfo
method to ensure the output is actually under control of the wallet.
Previously, the wallet would assume the output was under its control if
the txid of the output was found within the wallet. This is not a safe
assumption to make however, because if we happened to be the sender of
this transaction, it would be found within the wallet but it's not
actually under our control. To fix this, we explicitly check that there
exists an address in our wallet for this output.
Tis commit makes the btcwallet signer implementation use
signDesc.HashType instead of SigHashAll when signing
transactions. This will allow the creator of the transaction
to specify the sighash policy when creating the accompanying
sign descriptior.
This commit removes the now deprecated FundingSigner struct as part of
the btcwallet package, and instead replaces it within an implementation
of the MessageSigner interface.
This commit implements some minor coding style, commenting and naming
clean up after the recent major discovery service was merged into the
codebase.
Highlights of the naming changes:
* fundingManager.SendToDiscovery -> SendAnnouncement
* discovery.Discovery -> discovery.AuthenticatedGossiper
The rest of the changes consist primary of grammar fixes and proper
column wrapping.
Added the signer which will be needed in the funding manager to sign
the lnwaire announcement message before sending them to discovery
package. Also in the future the message signer will be used to sign
the users data.
This commit extends the SignDescriptor with a single attribute, the
‘PrivateTweak’. The duties of the Signer interface have also been
augmented to properly derive a private key using the specified tweak,
iff it’s non-nil.
As currently defined in order to generate the proper private key based
off of a PrivateTweak, the signer is to add the tweak value to the
private key for the specified public key. This generated value is to be
used for signing within the specified context.
This change paves the way for automatic revoked output sweeping with
signatures generated directly by the Signer interface, maintaining the
structure of the abstraction.
A test has been added at the interface level in order to excerise each
WalletController’s implementation of the key derivation as currently
defined.
This commit consists of a mass variable renaming to call the pkScript being executed for segwit outputs the `witnessScript` instead of `redeemScript`. The latter naming convention is generally considered to be reserved for the context of BIP 16 execution. With segwit to be deployed soon, we should be using the correct terminology uniformly through the codebase.
In addition some minor typos throughout the codebase has been fixed.
This commit slightly modifies btcwallet’s SignOutputRaw method to work
properly in the case that the pkScript of the output being spent isn’t
one of the template pkScripts (p2pkh, multi-sig, etc). Rather than
examining the address, we now attempt to find the private key which
matches the public key passed within the sign descriptor.
