Changelog-Removed: protocol: support for legacy onion format removed, since everyone supports the new one.
And turn "" includes into full-path (which makes it easier to put
config.h first, and finds some cases check-includes.sh missed
previously).
config.h sets _GNU_SOURCE which really needs to be done before any
'#includes': we mainly got away with it with glibc, but other platforms
like Alpine may have stricter requirements.

Various unit tests were creating temporary files unconditionally in /tmp
and were not cleaning up after themselves. Introduce a new variant of
mkstemp(3p) that respects the TMPDIR environment variable, and use it in
the offending unit tests. This allows each test run to use a dedicated
TMPDIR that can be cleaned up after the run.

Avoids much cut & paste. Some tests don't need any of it, but most
want at least some of this infrastructure.

v2 channel open uses a different method to derive the channel_id, so now
we save it to the database so that we dont have to remember how to
derive it for each.
includes a migration for existing channels
Note that other directories were explicitly depending on the generated
file, instead of relying on their (already existing) dependency on
$(LIGHTNINGD_HSM_CLIENT_OBJS), so we remove that.

the way we use PSBTs to sign things requires that we have the
scriptpubkey available on the utxo so we can populate the witness-utxo
field with it.
this causes problems if we don't already have the scriptpubkey cached in
the database, as in *some* cases we require a round trip to the HSM to
populate them
to get over this hump, we backfill any and all missing scriptpubkey
information for the utxo's that we hold in our wallet.
this will allow us to clean up the NULL handling of missing
scriptpubkeys.
we're about to add a migration that requires access to the bip32_key
in order to calculate missing scriptpubkeys.
prior to this patch, we don't have access to the bip32 key in the db
migration, as it's set on the wallet but after the db migrations are
run.
here we patch it through so that every migration can access it
We update the `last_tx` in `channels` to be psbt format, instead
of a linearized transaction.
We need the amount of the input populated, which we have since
this is the 'funding' amount. Ideally we'd also populate the funding
scriptPubkey, but to do that we'd need to access the HSM module to fetch
our local funding pubkey, which isn't initialized at the time that the
database migrations are run.
Since the only field the HSM uses currently when signing these is the
amount field, it's ok to just leave it out.
needs a test!
This increments the `data_version` upon committing dirty transactions, reads
the last data_version upon startup, and tracks the number in memory in
parallel to the DB (see next commit for rationale).
Changelog-Changed: JSON-RPC: Added a `data_version` field to the `db_write` hook which returns a numeric transaction counter.
1. Printed form is always "[<nodeid>-]<prefix>: <string>"
2. "jcon fd %i" becomes "jsonrpc #%i".
3. "jsonrpc" log is only used once, and is removed.
4. "database" log prefix is use for db accesses.
5. "lightningd(%i)" becomes simply "lightningd" without the pid.
6. The "lightningd_" prefix is stripped from subd log prefixes, and pid removed.

Changelog-changed: Logging: formatting made uniform: [NODEID-]SUBSYSTEM: MESSAGE
Changelog-removed: `lightning_` prefixes removed from subdaemon names, including in listpeers `owner` field.
A log can have a default node_id, which can be overridden on a per-entry
basis. This changes the format of logging, so some tests need rework.

We used to do some of the setup work in db.c, which is now free of any
sqlite3-specific code. In addition we also switch over to fully qualified DSNs
to specify the location of the wallet.

We're about to remove them.

These functions implement the lookup of the query, and the dispatch to the
DB-specific functions that do the actual heavy lifting.
Signed-off-by: Christian Decker <decker.christian@gmail.com>
These are generalized from our internal implementations.
The main difference is that 'struct json_escaped' is now 'struct
json_escape', so we replace that immediately.
The difference between lightningd's json-writing ringbuffer and the
more generic ccan/json_out is that the latter has a better API and
handles escaping transparently if something slips through (though
it does offer direct accessors so you can mess things up yourself!).

- Related Changes for `warning` notification
Add a `bool` type parameter in `log_()` and `lov()`, this `bool` flag
indicates if we should call `warning` notifier.
1) The process of copying `log_book` of every peer to the `log_book` of
`ld` is usually included in `log_()` and `lov()`, and it may lead to
repeated `warning` notification. So a `bool`, which explicitly indicates
if the `warning` notification is disabled during this call, is necessary
.
2) The `LOG_INFO` and `LOG_DEBUG` level don't need to call
warning, so set that `bool` paramater as `FALSE` for these log level and
only set it as `TRUE` for `LOG_UNUAUSL`/`LOG_BROKEN`. As for `LOG_IO`,
it use `log_io()` to log, so we needn't think about notifier for it.
I tried to just do gossipd, but it was uncontainable, so this ended up being
a complete sweep.
We didn't get much space saving in gossipd, even though we should save
24 bytes per node.

Node ids are pubkeys, but we only use them as pubkeys for routing and checking
gossip messages. So we're packing and unpacking them constantly, and wasting
some space and time.
This introduces a new type, explicitly the SEC1 compressed encoding
(33 bytes). We ensure its validity when we load from the db, or get it
from JSON. We still use 'struct pubkey' for peer messages, which checks
validity.

This will add the testnet config copyNpaste to test_utils.c,
so that the test stups can set these.
Alternatively, to reduce code duplication, we can move the
testnet_config and mainnet_config from options.c to options.h.
Allow a function as well as (or instead of!) an sql statement. That
will let us do things like set per-channel values to the global
defaults, for example.
Since we remove the NULL termination, the final entry is ARRAY_SIZE()-1
not ARRAY_SIZE()-2.

More efficient to measure the ARRAY_SIZE(), which is a runtime
constant. We move it into the unit test.

They're generally used pass-by-copy (unusual for C structs, but
convenient they're basically u64) and all possibly problematic
operations return WARN_UNUSED_RESULT bool to make you handle the
over/underflow cases.
The new #include in json.h means we bolt11.c sees the amount.h definition
of MSAT_PER_BTC, so delete its local version.

We're currently overriding fatal() with something that actually
returns, which contrasts with its declaration as NORETURN.
This breaks in the next patch which wants a real fatal() in wallet.h.

Two changes:
- Fixed the function signature of noleak_ to match in both
configurations
- Added memleak.o to linker for tests
Generating the stubs for the unit tests doesn't really work since the
stubs are checked in an differ between the two configurations, so
adding memleak to the linker fixes that, by not requiring stubs to be
generated in the first place.

This is a primitive mark-and-sweep-style garbage detector. The core is
in common/ for later use by subdaemons, but for now it's just lightningd.
We initialize it before most other allocations.
We walk the tal tree to get all the pointers, then search the `ld`
object for those pointers, recursing down. Some specific helpers are
required for hashtables (which stash bits in the unused pointer bits,
so won't be found).
There's `notleak()` for annotating things that aren't leaks: things
like globals and timers, and other semi-transients.
